Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the levels of ageism, empathy, and attitudes toward geriatric care among nursing students and identify the factors influencing their attitudes toward geriatric care. Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study included 150 fourth-year nursing students from two universities. Data were collected using self-administered questionnaires on attitudes toward geriatric care, ageism, and empathy and analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple regression analyses using SPSS/WIN 25.0. Results: The mean scores for the attitude toward geriatric care, ageism, and empathy were 62.75 out of 85, 1.97 out of 5, and 11.95 out of 15, respectively. Multiple regression analysis revealed that ageism (β=-0.51, p<.001), empathy (β=0.20, p<.001), and volunteer experience with seniors (β=0.16, p=.010) were significant predictors of attitudes toward geriatric care. Conclusion: Ageism and empathy were the factors that most significantly influenced attitudes toward geriatric care. The nursing curriculum should systematically incorporate learning activities to reduce ageism and enhance empathy. Experiential learning, such as using an aged simulation suit, can promote nursing students' understanding of older adults and foster positive attitudes toward their care.
