Purpose: This descriptive research to investigate the effects of attitude toward the elderly, communication, and empathy on geriatric nursing practice integrated nursing care service. Methods: The participants in this study were 170 nurses at two medical institutions in which integrated nursing care service is performed., A self-reported questionnaire was directly distributed to the participants between July 24, 2023 and August 10, 2023. Data analysis, including percentage, standard deviation, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA test, Scheffe's test, Pearson's correlation coefficients and multiple regression analysis were performed using the SPSS PC+ version 23 tool. Results: This study determined that statistically significant differences were found in three areas od geriatric nursing practice: attitudes, communication skills, and empathy toward the elderly. In geriatric nursing practice, a negative corrlation was demonstrated in the attitudes toward the elderly, while communication skills and empathy were positively correlated. Regression analysis on these factors revealed that the higher the level of communication and empathy, the more positively appeared in geriatric nursing practice. The explanatory power of this study was 32.9%. Conclusion: This study revealed the necessity of a systematic program for improving communication skills and the development of an arbitration method for positive empathy to improve overall geriatric nursing practice.
